THE BEATLES: "RUBBER SOUL" LP - UK 1966 Mono Original Press (Parlophone PMC 1267)
Rubber Soul is one of the Beatles' best albums. There is not a weak track on the disc. The album shows their emerging skill in the studio, and record has the best set of songs recorded up to that point. Lennon, in particular, manages to achieve one of the heights of his career, all 5 of his tracks are standouts. McCartney's songs are quite strong, as well, though they don't reach the heights of Lennon's. Ringo's one-number-per-LP is here too, "What Goes On." George contributes his best two songs yet, including "If I Needed Somone," which boasts Byrds-like harmonies and guitar work. Rubber Soul has more warmth and feeling than Revolver, the album that follows it. The Beatles' lyrics, singing, and playing is their best yet. John Lennon exposes the most of his soul that we've seen thus far with "Norwegian Wood," "Nowhere Man," "Girl," and "In My Life." Listen to the depth and expressive tones of Lennon's voice. McCartney's "I'm Looking Through You" could be the most personal song he'd written yet. The songs hold up as well today as they did 30 years ago.
Thick, heavy vinyl is in superb condition, retaining all of its original shine. This one has obviously been played very little, and always treated with extreme care - a beautiful piece! As you surely already know, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find classic vinyl in such nice condition. This one has no bad scratches, hairlines, or surface marks! Only when seen under strong light a couple of light surface marks are visible. After playing record, I can confirm that play-grade coincides with visual grading - it plays superbly, without any loud clicks or pops, jumps or crackle. Record is graded as near mint, if not better!
Original yellow-and-black Parlophone labels with "The Gramophone Co..." and "Sold in UK..." are near mint, without any tears or writing, also no spindle marks. 'KT' tax code on side two labels!
Stunning front-laminated Ernest J. Day sleeve is in fantastic condition for its age - please have a look at the photographs, I do my best to give an accurate detail of item's condition! It shows 100% solid seams, no splits or tears, no writing, no ring, no spine wear, near perfect graphics, and only some minor creasing near edges and some rubbing on an area on back - where a name seems to have been written at some point, and later erased - to detract it from attaining an even higher grade! Flipbacks are just lovely, firm and solid. Spine is fully and clearly readable. Also no grubbyness, and no decolouration or wear to non-laminated back. Cover must warrant a near mint minus grade, if not better! Also present is all-important Emitex inner sleeve! These pressings are extremely hard to find, in any condition - even more so on the stunning shape this one is in. Don't miss your chance to own one!
