Description
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND original 1967 (or 1968, as others claim) full length LP by the Slam Creepers called "Bubbles" on the Swedish BILL label. This is the same band who recorded the somewhat more common (but still rare) LP "Sweet Ruth", although I believe THIS album predates that one by a year or so. Anyway, besides the tremendous psychedelic mod cover which grabs your attention right away, this rare album is full of classic dancefloor sounds - from go-go to mod to freakbeat to blue-eyed Swedish soul and some psych pop as well, including a real groovy baroque Zombies feel to several tracks. Highlights include "I Just Couldn't Get You Out of My Mind", which sounds like something from 1966 Zombies with moody organ, lots of cool minor keys, loungey swinging' go-go sounds and breathy vocals. "Summertime" is a slowed-down version of the oft-covered classic, as done by 1969 Argent or 1967 Zombies - heavy on the organ, a lazy slowed down drugged out psych feel, and breathy otherworldly Colin Blunstone style vocals. "Cash Box" is irresistible upbeat popsike with a funky, jazzy vibe - with chuggin' staccato organ rhythm - a great freakbeat dancefloor winner! And "Vansbro Memories" is a true classic - a KILLER organ/xylophone funky movie soundtrack instro like something off a 1967 international spy flick! Cool mysterious go-go dancefloor sounds, and a GREAT acid guitar solo as well. If there's a Swedish James Bond, this is his theme. Original 1967 (or 68) pressing on the Swedish BILL label - groovy cover has very little wear - well kept (especially considering the mostly black front cover) - grades EXCELLENT.
