About this release

Here on sale is the very rare 1st fully Australian pressed MONO copy of Please Please Me from 1963 with the original Gold Black Label with Matrix numbers XEX 421-1N and XEX 422-1N. This genuine first press is extremely difficult to find and is distinguished from the less rare 2nd pressing which was released later in '63 by several features. This copy's flipback sleeve has MONO only cat number on upper rear sleeve  (see photos) and the label has printed on the rim "Made in Australia for the Parlophone Co., Ltd. Sydney, N.S.W." (see photos) There is actually another slightly rarer copy of this release that came with an English original sleeve with the Australian pressed vinyl but this is the first fully manufactured release of this album and is extremely difficult to find.

Condition

Vinyl: This is in exceptionally good condition especially considering it is 50 years old. Visually the record is still glossy and although, under bright light it, does contain some light hairlines and very minor scuff marks (not many at all) they are not in ubundance as seen on most record of this age. These 'blemishes' however do not affect the audio of this record. This is an amazing sounding record. Only at high levels can any background noise be heard and this is very slight and only noticable between tracks. There is only very occasionally the lightest tick and definately not any loud clicks or pops. It is really quite remarkable that a record as popular and as old as this can sound so good after all these years. Overall strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading VERY GOOD.

Labels: The labels are free from any writing, with clear gold text. Does contain some spindle marks. VERY GOOD 

Cover: 2 inch seam split, small name written rear upper left corner, minor ring wear on back and minor creasing on front. All in all a fine example of this very 'flimsy' and delicate cover. Both front and back mostly clean with only minor signs of discoloration. This is a very acceptable example of this original cover and it is very difficult to find better copies as this is both very old and a very delicately made cover with thin cardboard. Strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading of GOOD+

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
