THE BEATLES: LOVE ME DO/PS I LOVE YOU, 45-R 4949 – BOTH VERSIONS, THE OFFICIAL WITHDRAWN AND CORRECTED 2012, 50th ANNIVERSARY RED PARLOPHONE LABEL VINYL 45s.
Item Description & Condition:
This Historic Beatles single was originally released by Parlophone, UK on 5th October 1962 - 52 years ago.
This is the very rare withdrawn version featuring the incorrect version of Love Me Do, and also the corrected 50th Anniversary versions, both vinyl 45s are on the distinctive RED Parlophone Label with Silver Printed text, and solid centre. The withdrawn version of the single has grey coloured text, the corrected version vinyl 45 has brighter Silver label text. (Note, the incorrect Catalogue Numbers on side B of both singles), the scans below show the difference between the two labels.
The withdrawn version of this single play’s the Please Please Me LP version of Love Me Do, with Andy White on Drums. The corrected version of the song is the original version of Love Me Do, with Ringo Starr on drums. The side two catalogue number on both discs have the incorrect catalogue number of, 45-R 4714, instead of 45-R 4949, this label error was not corrected on both versions.
Both vinyl 45s comes in a card sleeve, with the same design and colouring as the 1962 original paper sleeve. The withdrawn version sleeve has a Promotional Copy Not For Sale sticker.
The records and sleeves are in brand new Mint condition.
Accompanying both issues of the vinyl single are, two copies of the dated EMI Consignment Notes, one copy is dated 01.10.2012, and the other is dated18.10.2012, also a copy of the EMI Music Catalogue Marketing sheet, a copy of the not to be sold until Friday 5th October, and finally a copy of the EMI recall letter headed faulty stock.
Sure to be future collectible records, further enhanced by the official EMI paper work for both releases.
