The BEATLES - I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND / THIS BOY
1st UK PRESSING, 1963 PYE contract pressing Parlophone 45 R5084
Despite quite "ordinary" appearances, THIS IS A VERY RARE ITEM INDEED! The rarest possible pressing of this classic Beatles 45 you can expect to find! This is seriously rare and never turns up for sale. Do not confuse this for a second pressing from 1968. I do not believe it to be so. This does not have "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD." or "Sold in U.K..." label text, but it does have "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD" and everything points to this being a solid centre PYE contract pressing from 1963. I've never seen this pressing before!
Most pressings from 1963, including the usual contract pressings, have pushout centres, but you never, ever, see this solid centre pressing! It has a textured centre area (itself, very unusual), and then a shallow "basin" area before rising to the outer central area, and then a very rough rim. These rims were designed to "bite" to other records when stacked on top of each other (as was the custom with the old Dansette record players), but this rim is particularly rough, and a lot more prominent than you will usually see.
VINYL IN VERY GOOD- CONDITION
SLEEVE IN VERY GOOD+ CONDITION
The vinyl displays many fine surface marks and the odd tiny nick, but no major, heavy scratches, and the sound quality is easily VERY GOOD. There is a very slight graze to the outer rim of the disc (undoubtedly it was dropped at some time - see last photo below) but this in no way affects play and the record is totally flat. The labels are very respectable, with a name in fine ballpoint to both sides, but this really is barely visible and would go unnoticed to most people, I think (see photos for yourself!) The Parlophone sleeve is very strong and clean, with a tiny, feint name to rear (again, barely noticeable), but really, the sleeve, in this case is not that important. It's the rare disc on offer here that counts! This 45 never appears for sale. Do not miss this opportunity!

without KT tax code to spindle areas, but with KT to both runout grooves, at 9 'o' clock. With stampers 3 (side 1) and 5 (side 2), both at 9 'o' clock. No stampers at 3 'o' clock to either side!
a tiny "flattened" area to the outer edge where the record has at some time been dropped, perhaps. Not serious and causing no problems at all.
