The BeatlesFrom the VaultBox set #233 of 300
Beautiful conditions
Here is the very VERY rare "Grey Box" set The Beatles From the Vault. Only 300 box sets were ever made and this is number 233. As you can see from the pictures the box and all of the contents are very nice and original. All EIGHT records are NM. This is colored vinyl by the way. Here's the intro from the Grey Box 18 page booklet"
"From the Vault has been compiled in such a way as to compliment the blue Beatles Collection box set. This set, taken together with the Blue Box, will give a more accurate picture of the Beatles' recorded work from 1962-1970. In this set you'll find audition tapes, studio recordings from the BBC, songs recorded for release but not used, a collection of Christmas messages, and other tracks of historical interest. Also included is Get Back, an album that was released to radio stations in March of 1969, but recalled before its commercial release."
Everything from the original box set is here including the t-shirt which is grey with the box set title in red writing. The booklet says the t-shirt size is XL but that it looks like a medium.
The EIGHT records are:1.) File Under Vol1 - 2.) File under Vol2 - 3.) The Decca tapes 4.) Broadcasts 5.) From us to you 6.) Christmas Album 7.) Abbey Road NW8 - 8.) Get Back (half speed from the master tape)
ALL COLORED VINYL ALL RECORDS ARE NM

Add info:
There is very little info available on this box set. I've owned it since about 1990 and I think they were originally sold in the early 80's but that's just a guess. The little booklet in the set doesn't say when the set was made. It must have come just after the Blue Box set which was early 80's I believe.
Most of the material is from other sources and compiled. A good example is the Christmas album. Here they have collected all of the Beatles christmas tracks over the years and put them on one album. These were the Christmas messages the Beatles used to send out to their UK fan club members on 'flexy disks' (very thin vinyl records).
Here's an excerpt from pages 12-13 of the booklet: "Get Back was originally conceived as a return to roots album. For this project, the Beatles would once again record their songs live, like in the early days, sacrificing perfection that over-dubbing offered, but gaining spontaneity and feeling. Two different versions of the album were assembled before the project was shelved. This is the first version of Get Back LP, as produced by George Martin. Released to 200 US radio stations in March 1969, it was recalled by Apple after 3 weeks. This is NOT a copy from a tape of one of those LPs. This record has been mastered from the original stereo source tape."

Please check out my other items! up at auction this week!
We will combine multiple items to save you money on shipping (no extra shipping charges for media mail USA).
We only use new sturdy box mailers with medium bubble to protect your items.
We love records too and wish we had time to play grade them all, there are just too few hours in the day so they are all carefully inspected using a glare method (use reflective light to check for flaws).
We will play grade any record upon request, if you receive a record and it does not meet your expectations we will gladly give you a refund.
This is how we grade the records - Goldmine Standard for listing the condition of items for sale.
Mint (M) Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all.
Near Mint (NM or M-) A nearly perfect record. Near Mint is the highest price listed in all Goldmine price guides. Anything that exceeds this grade, in the opinion of both buyer and seller, is worth significantly more than the highest Goldmine book value.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. We usually only list items that are VG+ at least unless it is a rare item and then we would describe any defects in detail.
Thanks again to all of our customers for your prompt payments and positive feedbacks!
