Description

An original 1st mono press of Collection on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1G/1G. Please note labels are absolutely consistent with very 1st press - all publishing dates are on the left side of the labels. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono flipback cover. Also included is the original sepia toned inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen the very lightest use - clearly very low mileage. Under close inspection I couldn't make out more than a couple of very light marks per side, and one slight patch of bag-rash superficial marking - nothing remotely troublesome that would vaguely enter the audio spectrum. Possibly one of the best looking copies I've seen - pristine shine. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Often these Collection Lps can disappoint a little on the audio side, but this well preserved mono early copy really does nail it from start to finish. Really nice and clean audio even in those particularly tricky tracks like 'Eleanor Rigby' and Michelle. I would argue it's as good a rendition of this title as I've heard. Interference is extremely minor and infrequent. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. E.g. in the intro to Yesterday. But by and large this particularly fussy track plays back much cleaner than you typically find.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and has clearly been very carefully looked after down the years. Lovely shiny front with nothing worse than one slight crease. I can make out a very superficial horizontal scuff mark in line with the man's head. It's very minor and you can ony really make it out by tilting the cover into the light. The rear seems to have pretty much avoided the ageing process and looks very impressive indeed. All flipbacks are secure and intact. Edge wear is very minimal for this title and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and you'd be hard pushed to find a nicer example.
Inner (Vg+) No splits, but light ageing and a code written in top right corner.
