This is the first time that the song appeared as a single release in the U.K. and as such, this 'Demo' disc is dated (24.10.75) and not be confused with later undated re-released demo copies from 1986. It reached #6 in the U.K. chart, in 1975, but was re-released exactly five years later in 1980 following John's death, where it sold over a million copies and put it in its rightful place at #1, nine years after it had first been heard on the 1971 'Imagine' album.
THE DISC

AUDIO - EX+ / VG+
The all important side 1 plays perfectly, with crystal clear sound and just one tiny 'pop' that I could detect. Side 2, being a very gentle track, does have some crackle at the beginning and odd 'pop' but mainly performs without any other intrusions. There are no repetitive clicks, skips or stalls.
VISUALLY - EX / EX- The vinyl surfaces have retained all their original deep gloss finish. There are some very light handling lines on side 1, moreso on side 2 which I think was probably caused by this side being temporarily rested on an imperfect surface before being put back in the protective cover. There is a tiny 'nick' on the vinyl edge (see photo) which is completely harmless and does not encroach on the playing arm. There is a small inscription on the side 1 label.

In great condition with no writing or damage, just a bit of ring wear.
