Description
This is from the May 5th, 1958 original Decca Recording, DL 8707, bearing the matrix numbers MG 6148 and MG 6149 imprinted in the vinyl. This version, a pre-release, I have been unable to find ANY other copies still existing. The Decca labels on each side are in VG condition, clearly marked 'Sample Copy' and 'Not For Sale' (see pictures). This is the original US version!
As the story is told to me, this LP was given to my father by the great Buddy Holly himself. The album is probably rated VG. The cover is in great shape considering its age. It is split along the top and side seam, with a small split (about 1 and a half inches) on the bottom. The bottom corners are slightly frayed.
By all the research I have done on this album, This copy should be valued somewhere between $1000.00 and $2000.00 US.
How I graded this album:
VG++ = extremely nice. Would be Mint-, except for a couple of light scratches or scuffs, which do not affect play
VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still sounds OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc
