Description
This is the Tears For Fears 1983 vinyl LP 'The Hurting' and it is HAND-SIGNED on the front cover by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal - although you'd do well to make out the names from the signatures.
It is signed in the top right hand corner of the front cover "To John Best wishes Kurt + Roland (You were right about the seats)" in blue biro. (I think the seats bit is a reference to uncomfortable seats for the interview). Please see the images.
The cover is in good condition for its age with a couple of minor frays in the corner. On the rear is the stamp from the record company 'Promotional Copy Not for Resale'
The picture inner sleeve is in good/very good condition and the vinyl is in a separate see-through plastic inner. The vinyl itself is in very good condition with no visible marks or scratches.
Also enclosed is a pink promotional biography item from the record company. What's interesting is the contact name at Phonogram for further information: Mariella Frostrup.
Please note that I am not a dealer or a record collector. The items I am selling are all from the extensive collection of my late brother, John Shaw.
He was a great music and radio enthusiast, working for both BBC and commercial radio stations in the East Midlands from 1980 until 2013 presenting various music shows, mostly folk and rock.
During this period he interviewed many bands and artists in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and usually had them sign copies of the albums they were promoting at the time.
He produced and presented the nightly rock show 'Castle Rock' on Radio Trent and regularly interviewed bands. I think he interviewed Tears For Fears before a gig at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham in 1983, so I guess this is when he would have had the two of them sign the item. (The Royal Concert Hall is a seated venue - so that may be the reference to the seats in the signatures.)
He was also sent many promotional, DJ-only and white-label pressings direct from the record companies.
Sadly my brother passed away in November 2013, so I am slowly disposing of his extensive record collection.
All vinyl will be sent in special secure mailers with stiffeners.
Thank you.
