TUMBLACK & FRIENDS Lp produced and arranged by YVES HAYAT. Original French pressing on the BARCLAY label (91 024), from 1978. Cult item with Arpadys cosmic French Library session men Pierre Alain Dahan / Sauveur Malia / Slim Pezin and Marc Chantereau backing the West Indian Tumblack percussionists and chorus. Our soundclip opens with an edited down WAKA starting from the sonic syn - drum booms into most of side 2. Super-addictive instrumentation featuring delirious tribal percussion / thumping proto house 4/4 beats / spacey mini moog / synthesizers / clavinet / Arp Odyssey / fender rhodes / disco bass / jazzy sax / "feel good" horn section etc. Shades of the best French afro boogie with phased drums a la Klaus Weiss Niagara - Sangandongo and cool steel pan disco funk groove similar to the Boogsie Sharpe Phase II sound. The session also features the ethnic broken beats rhythm track / funky DJ tool INVOCATION which we stupidly forgot to record but you can hear on the net, for sure :) Rare Lp in this condition too!!! Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few light hairlines from sleeve removal. Item looks barely played. Some faded old pressing residue marks. The laminated sleeve is closer to M- condition overall with a touch of ring wear from storage. Sharp corners and edges. Old price sticker to back sleeve. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label image. Rare Lp!!!
