THOSE FLYING SAUCERS
There are a few country songs that mention flying saucers, but they almost always are talking about the wife throwing the dishes that the singer. NOT THIS ONE ! This is a classic from the Buchanan Brothers and it’s from November of 1947, only months after the Rosewell, New Mexico crash (July 2, 1947).
They’re taking it all pretty seriously, and don’t see it as part of a coming invasion – but as part of the Apocalypse !

They're more than atom bombs or falling stars
A year earlier, the Buchanan Brothers, Chester and Lester, enjoyed a top-ten hit with an equally gimmicky number called Atomic Power (1946). ("Atomic power, atomic power, Was given by the mighty hand of God." ) Flying Saucers is pretty much a follow-up, even if the atom bomb only rates a brief mention near the end: "They're more than atom bombs or falling stars"--"they" being the flying saucers. Specifically, the saucers are a warning from God to end the Cold War. Or else.
