THOR RECORDS Private Scottish Jazz 1970's BOBBY DEANS ULTRA RARE.
Here on offer is an ultra rare & scarce private pressing on the Scottish THOR label.
Issued in the 1970's & in miniscule numbers this copy was actually the band leader Bobby Deans own personal copy. That's how rare these are for a start. Search everyplace you will not find another I guarantee that.
This album was actually withdrawn following a disagreement between Harry Margolis the label boss & Bobby or members of the outfit playing here in these very scarce recordings.
The drummer on Ho Ho (actually a massive typo) and real title Oh Oh Here He Comes was from the Alex Harvey band.
This is a fantastic uptempo fast cover version from Herbie Hancocks Fat Alberts Rotunda.
The rest of the tracks are various covers and a couple of original compositions from the various styles of JAZZ. "Elephants Graveyard" is also actually another typo & titled "Brazil" while Brazil = Elephants Graveyard.
Perhaps why there was a fall out? Because the item was not 100% correct.
Regardless of the situation in the 1970's this one didn't get abandoned or destroyed as is believed to have been the case with the other 200 units. If they ever did survive then today there will be very, very few left. Most will have been played to the point of no return or even worse just dumped when CD became the new format & vinyl was considered outdated.
Bobby was the person who had written the cover note on the back. There are a few light biro pen writings beside the track titles from Bobby himself. A wee bit of expected colour age to cover only.
I was given this copy by his partner & decided to move it on.
The actual record plays as EXCELLENT and has a few very light marks that do NOT impare audio contained within. This was cared for by Bobby as it was his one and only personal copy.
Super rare Scottish Jazz. A fantastic album that is beyond impossible to find today in 2020.
You can look for this FOREVER and one wil never show up. As is the case with anything on this label. They only did one run and that was it!! Those unit runs = 200 only or 500 max in the 70's.
