The Zombies---"Odessey & Oracle"---Original UK Pressed Mono Album On The CBS Label---A1 and B1 From 1968
This is a UK copy from 1968 in stereo on the orange CBS label, cat. no. 63280 with matrices A1 and B1.
Vinyl: FULL DESCRIPTION. The vinyl is in great looking condition with a great shine and just a few marks. There are no jumps or skips. It plays as follows.
- Care Of Cell 44--EX: Some crackle at the run in and into the start, then plays great with just a little light surface noise in quiet parts. Those "Beach Boy" harmonies are amazing!
- A Rose For Emily--EX: A beautiful track with those superb harmonies again. The noise is hardly heard considering how quiet this track is. Later it has a little crackle which becomes slightly heavier right at the end and into track 3.
- Maybe After He's Gone--VG: Starts off well but there is a feelable line which goes in line with one of the grooves and after the clear, quiet start, this line causes a sharp, but very short distortion noise. It has a little "swishing" in quiet parts which becomes a "swishing tick" just over halfway through. There continues between 3 and 4 continuing into:
- Beechwood Park--VG: This track plays VG with the continuation of the "swishing" for about a quarter of the track. Then it plays EX or better until just a bit of crackle at the end and into the start of:
- Brief Candles--VG+: Another quiet track which has ticking at the very quiet start which virtually disappears into the louder music. Mainly EX.
- Hung Up On A Dream--EX+: This track plays EX+ or better and sounds superb. A few ticks at the run off.
- Changes--VG: Some light crackle on run in becoming a light ticking on the quiet start of this track. Later, you can just about hear a little ticking in the background, but it's certainly not heavy. The rest of this track has great clarity almost until the end when a tick starts and goes into:
- I Want Her She Wants Me--VG+: A little light ticking in the background of the quiet parts. After the end of this track there is a little crackly ticking between this and:
- This Will Be Our Year--EX: This track plays EX then has 10 seconds of ticking on the very end and into:
- Butchers Tale--VG+: This track has a solid, full sound with hardly any unwanted noise. After the end there is a little crackle between tracks 4 and 5.
- Friends Of Mine--NM: This track plays with superb quality. Between this and the last track has perfect sound.
- Time Of The Season--NM: The track that everyone knows. This one plays NM and better than any of the others.
Labels: EX. The matte orange labels are in lovely condition with no markings. There is normal use spindle wear.
Sleeve: VG+. The laminated Ernest J. Day sleeve is in very solid condition with a little edge and corner wear. It has a little thumb creasing to the leading edge and corners. A nice shine though.Pinched spine is clean, clear and easily readable. The unlaminated back of sleeve has a little light stain mark here and there, from dirty fingers over the last 50 years! The die cut orange Advertising inner sleeve has a small tear in the top but the rest is NM.
With a low start price you could get yourself a real bargain.
