"I CAN'T EXPLAIN" b/w "BALD HEADED WOMAN" 

Decca subsidiary BRUNSWICK RECORDS 05926 ~ 1965 Original DEMONSTRATION SAMPLE issue The debut record for THE WHO, although they'd had a previous release under the Mod cliché name 'THE HIGH NUMBERS' with "Zoot Suit" only months before. Indeed their previous names was The Who (after The Detours) but Pete Meaden temporarily managed, named and composed for them. The lads reverted to the favoured title when Kit Lambert conferred with them - and Pete Townshend on hearing The KINKS hit 'You Really Got Me' penned this tremendous track! For the session though, a young JIMMY PAGE - present on the Kinks recording, was drafted in to get the guitar part right! Shel Talmy was The Kinks producer that Kit felt could do great things for his boys, but Townshend's famous nose was put seriously out of joint by this fresh faced boy taking his instrumental duties. It's uncertain how much involvement in the session Page took, but he was playing on the record in some capacity at least! Another group also took part with handclaps, which was more agreeable to Mr Townshend.

A rare special DEMO 45 especially this great shape.

CONDITION:
The vinyl is in ASTOUNDING and well preserved EXCELLENT condition, faint wisps and a couple of sparse superficial marks under a bright light - and this plays wonderfully, loud and clear!
Lables are VG+ due to a name in crayon(?), there’s a number stamp too (I assume there might have been around 250 to 300 distributed Worldwide). Very decent & clear silver text on Maroon lables(Decca mono lable colour)
