ON OFFER ANOTHER ULTRA RARETY OF THE WHO. THE FIRST UK PRESS FROM 1966 OF THE LP "A QUICK ONE" IN MONO. PLEASE DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE RARETY OF THIS LP.

This is an auction for the mega rare Original 1966 UK Reaction Record Mono 1st Pressing of “A Quick One” by The Who. Both record and sleeve are genuine 1st press with 1st Press (A2//B2 Matrix), very early (1 1) stampers in both sides, DOUBLE RIDGED TEXTURED LABELS only present in PRE-ISSUES and EARLY FIRST PRESSINGS.
THIS LP IS MORE SPECIAL THAN OTHERS AS IT HAS FULLY TEXTURED LABELS IN BOTH SIDES AND THE CENTRE OF EACH LABEL ON THIS 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING HAS 2 'RIDGES' AROUND THE CENTRE HOLE AND 1 1 STAMPERS ONCE AGAIN INDICATING THAT THIS IS A PRE-ISSUE OR A VERY EARLY FIRST PRESSING!
It is the genuine article and in MONO! This is how you'd have heard it on pirate radio back in the 60's. Not many people had stereo in those days. It definitely has a different sound... not better, not worse... just different!
Mono was the main format of the day and so those mixes were done at separate sessions for each track. Mono was where all the work and time went and the stereo mix was pretty much cobbled together as an afterthought.
The vinyl has been visually graded in very good condition. I have played the LP on a standard equipment and sounds much better than it looks just background noise in the quieter parts and between tracks that will benefit from a professional clean. I am still amazed to hear how good these old pressings are. Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is over 54 years old that has been played and will not transform into anything different to the condition stated.
The sleeve is in excellent condition with creases, edge and corner wear.
The spine is fully legible in excellent condition.
The earliest first press blue textured reaction labels with two ridges are in very good condition.

Visually-graded vinyl: A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. A visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and sixty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect.
Play-grading MONO records: Mono records and stereo records have different grooves. A stereo record produces a stereo sound via both lateral and vertical groove modulation whereas a mono record is not intended to produce any sound from vertical modulation. Playing a mono record with a stereo cartridge will create distortion because it is trying to pick-up the vertical (stereo) part of the signal, whereas this is not intended to be heard on a mono record and so is just noise. Using a pre-amp with a mono switch will eliminate the noise caused by vertical modulation leaving just the lateral groove signal which is how the record was intended to be heard. If you do not have a mono switch on your amp or pre-amp you will be reproducing the noise from the vertical part of the signal and so the record will not sound as good. This is not any fault of the record, it is inherent to playing any mono record through a system that it was not designed for. Guide to grades used
Mint
Cover - Looks new - no marks, wear or damage
Disc - Looks unplayed - no marks visible
Near Mint
Cover - Looks virtually new with signs of handling- Minor wear creases but no marks or damage. Light sleeves may show slight discoloration due to age.
Disc - The record has had little play and has minor scuffs &/or hairline scratches mostly caused by moving record in & out of paper sleeve
Excellent
Cover - Signs of wear on edges/spine, corners or ring wear. No damage caused by sticker removal/residue.
Disc- The record has been played and has light marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.
Very good
Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.
Disc - The record has been played frequently and has noticeable surface marks, occasional light scratches and paper scuffs.
Good
Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.
Disc - The record looks very well played and the sound quality has probably deteriorated noticeably. A lot of surface marks/scratches. Usually used as collection filler I am not a dealer but an amateur collector selling duplicated items or records that I no longer want to keep (mostly due to space). Unless indicated in the listing the records have been only visually inspected.
