THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO, PRODUCED BY ANDY WARHOL RARE 1967 MONO FIRST ISSUE BLACK & SILVER TEXT, VERVE RECORD LABEL VINYL LP-CATALOGUE No VLP 9184.
The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut album by American rock band, The Velvet Underground and vocal collaborator Nico, released in March 1967 by Verve Records. Recorded in 1966 during Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia event tour, The Velvet Underground & Nico would gain attention for its experimental performance sensibilities, as well as the focus on controversial subject matter expressed in many of its songs including drug abuse, prostitution, sadism and masochism and sexual deviancy.
This earliest first pressing with 1 G-1 G mother stampers was released in the UK in 1967, this is the rarer mono version of The Velvet Underground & Nico, UK debut album release on the original Black & Silver, Verve Record Labels with Made in Great Britain and Sold in UK label text on both record labels.
Both record labels are in Near Mint condition, super clean record labels with vivid Silver text and just a couple of light play signs on each label.
Side 1 matrix. V 5008 A-2.
Side 2. V 5008 B-2.
Side 1 stampers. 1 G. and Side 2. 1 G.
Both vinyl surfaces are beautiful Near Mint condition, super clean and bright vinyl surfaces to both sides, all that is visible under strong lighting are a couple of surface hairlines, there are no scratches or scuffs to either side.
The LP plays through with superb clear stereo sound quality.
The LP comes in its original polythene lined inner bag and is protected in it’s original front laminated three flip-back, Garrod & Lofthouse picture sleeve and is in superb Excellent condition, a glossy front panel with just mild LP storage signs and a couple of tiny corner bumps, both edges and the spine edge are perfect and the back panel of the sleeve is clean without damage with just light handling signs.
