SLEEVE = EXCELLENT.
RECORD = VERY GOOD.
This is an ORIGINAL 1969 UK FIRST PRESSING of The Stooges by The Stooges on Elektra records. The sleeve is near flawless with just a few tiny laminate cracks that you have to search for to locate. The spine is fully intact with all the writing easily readable (double click the pictures). The sleeve is in EXELLENT condition throughout with no unwanted writing anywhere on the item, as is the original inner sleeve.
The beautiful red and silver Elektra labels are in magnificent order with no writing anywhere on either side.
The record still retains a very high lustre sheen and although it shines like mirror, it does have quite a few very light hairlines to both sides. Each side has marks that under a strong light they look quite unsightly but despite this the record plays entirely without jumps or skips or sticking. There is the odd background noise when you listen with an ultra critical ear but nothing that is too intrusive and this record still sounds big and bold and plays well through its entirety . Due to the hairlines and the odd background noise the record grades as VERY GOOD. Please remember this when bidding.
As you all know The Stooges UK First pressings of Funhouse and the Stooges are exceptionally rare.
A friend of mine had 2 record shops superbly placed in Manchester city centre in the mid 60s to the early 80s. He told me he remembered this bands first 3 LPs on their release. The first 2 came with some hype from the states that this band could well be be the next big thing. So they displayed a dozen of them in the shop window from top to bottom (remember when they used to do that ? ).
He said about both LPs that they never got a single enquiry ,not one. Then a few years later the very same thing happened with their third album Raw Power not a single enquiry. A 100% complete failure. He had never known another band achieve that !
