Description
Here's an extremely rare record album from THE SOUNDS OF PROPHECY titled ...With "A NEW BORN FEELING". This was privately released on the Gospel Sounds label (West Covina, CA) in either the late 1960s or early 1970s. I can not find another copy or any reference at all to this album on the Internet.
The group had an association with the CHURCH OF GOD OF PROPHECY located at 12348 Denholm, El Monte, California. Members listed on rear cover include Pianist Benny Lopez, Drummers Ruben Castillo [though I believe he doesn't play drums but is the trumpet player] and Louis Picazo, Bassist Phillip Lazalde, and Singers Louis, Enadena, Priscilla, Esthel, and Carol. Notes on the rear cover refer them as a "group of Spanish young people". All are Latino. First two tracks on Side 2 are sung in Spanish.
Album has a nice pop/rock feel to it with the vocals often sounding a bit like the girl groups of Motown. Some songs are more in line with a traditional 70s gospel group vein. Ruben Castillo is listed as a drummer but I believe he is the TRUMPET player and the trumpet adds a lot to most of the songs.
