The Smiths, Fully Signed Shakespeare’s Sister 1985
Rough Trade 7" 45 rpm single
Not auto signed or copied, handsigned in pen by all 4 band members.
ULTRA RARE hand-signed by all four of the Smiths Including an early unadorned Morrissey signature, lovely item.
From top left, Johnny Marr, Mike Joyce, Morrissey and Andy Rourke. Legendary Manchester Indy quartet, only actively releasing together for five years, only gigged/toured for four years actively.
This flatsigned copy dates from the Meat is Murder tour of Spring 1985, where Shakespeare's Sister featured on the setlist. I have never seen any other copy of Shakespeare’s sister signed fully and these items go for high prices since the Smiths signed very little as a foursome, particularly early on.
Hence this is both getting on and rare.
The famed yellow-toned monochrome single cover of Pat Phoenix, of Coronation Street fame, is widely admired as a groundbreaker in cover art and epitomises the Smiths approach to statement art. Brilliant.
A lovely item to have in hand and sure to increase in value, I will be sad to see it go I have had it packed away as a precious item since this time. Delighted to hold it.
Single itself is in very good condition, has two spindle marks, one made by my brother who this once belonged to, one by me. Features the ‘home is where the art is’ motif at the centre of the record as picture shows. No scratches.

Condition is used; odd mark here and there nothing too terrible and all in all gorgeous and rare. Probably would benefit from a clean by a book or painting/photographic restorer or some such.
