Description
This is the second ever rock bootleg album ever made. The first was Dylan's Great White Wonder only months earlier in the same year (1969), and this was close to follow. Recorded at the Rolling Stones' '69 concert in Oakland, and issued first on the Lurch label in a very small run of something like 200 copies. Later issues are much more common, such as ones on the Oakland label, or TMOQ. I actually bought this record many years ago from one of the three guys who actually made it! He told me the reason they called it Lurch records was that they had a very tall friend they called Lurch, who they used to hire to record shows by hiding the microphone in his hat, and thereby getting it above the audience for a good sound. Anyhow this was his personal copy, which he never listened to. Very rare to find an original Lurch copy in good condition, but this one is just beautiful. There are some superficial sleeve scuffs but it plays perfectly. The pressings on these early bootlegs is dubious so there are always slight marks and defects from the getgo, but this copy is about as good as it gets. The cover, too, is nearly immaculate, with no splitting, staining, or dogears. Just a little aging. This is by far and away the best copy I have ever seen of this pressing, and by far the rarest version of this historic boot you can find. A real treasure.
