Description
A great opportunity to buy a RARE VINYL LP from the 1960's by The Rolling Stones called "The Rolling Stones".
This is their debut LP and is a U.K. pressing released in April 1964 on the Decca label (LK 4605)(mono) and has 12 tracks (see photos for track listings).
This LP had 4 different cover variations and 5 different label variations and it is well documented on the internet what the subtle differences are. This pressing plays the 4:06 version of "Tell Me" and the sleeve lists "I Need You Baby" instead of "Mona". Please see the photos of the labels to determine which variation of print this particular copy is. I know the 5 differences and I believe that this copy does not match any of those 5, therefore potentially making it a 6th variant. I stand to be corrected!
The matrix numbers in the dead wax are:- XARL-6271-1A (side one) and XARL-6272-4A (side two), which makes this a second pressing.
The vinyl is in a clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and there are several light surface marks evident, but nothing at all serious. I have played the whole of both sides and they play fine and sound SUPERB. Even between the tracks, it is nice and quiet.
The labels are clean and free from any writing, stickers or major defects. There are a few light spindle marks on the labels noticeable when tilted towards the light, more so on side two.
The record is flat and has no warps of any description.
The record is housed within its original company inner sleeve in a VERY GOOD condition considering its age.
The MacNeill Press printed front-laminated flipback picture cover is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. The edges, corners and spine are very strong, with just a hint of ring-wear when tilted and a very, very small area along the edge of the spine where the laminate has lifted slightly. The printing on the spine is clearly readable (see photos). The back cover is remarkably clean and has remained well preserved over the years. It is so clean it almost looks new! There is just a small section of the top corner of the flipback which is missing the laminate, but this shouldn't detract from what is a truly remarkable cover.
This is a TERRIFIC example of this highly collectable 60's Rolling Stones LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.
