Recording began on The Pretty Things' second album in around September 1965, just months after the release of their debut.
It ended up being a haphazard affair thanks to a growing problem with drummer Viv Prince whose behaviour was becoming ever more erratic and reckless.
With Prince being unreliable, the band had help in the form of producer Bobby Graham who was a renowned drummer in his own right, playing on several tracks.
John Stax's flatmate John C. Alder helped out on at least two tracks, one of which was "You'll Never Do It Baby"
Jimmy Page also made a couple of cameos, receiving a partial writing credit on "You Don't Believe Me."
The album did see the band starting to move away from the staunch R & B direction that dominated the first album, exploring more soulful areas as well as experimenting with the use of distortion on some of guitar and bass parts.

Recorded on three track tape at Philips Studios in London, the album was only mixed in mono. By the time it was released, Viv Prince had been fired from the band. It left them without a drummer for a few weeks whilst the search was on for a replacement.

Track Listing:
Side One: You Don't Believe Me / Buzz The Jerk / Get The Picture? / Can't Stand The Pain / Rainin' In My Heart / We'll Play House
Side Two: You'll Never Do It Baby / I Had A Dream / I Want Your Love / London Town / Cry To Me / Gonna Find Me A Substitute

LABELS: The labels are clean and unmarked with moderate spindle wear (please see close-up photos) - well played but not over-played
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces still retain their original deep, glossy sheen but there are marks consistent with its frequent use - none of these marks are deep or feel-able to the touch, visually VG+
VINYL Audio: Superb MONO cut with a crystal clear, deep, rich vibrant sound - very fresh, up-front and immediate audio delivery - sounds great. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no prolonged scratches, no sticks or jumps, just a few clicks/pops on "Can't Stand The Pain" (but little elsewhere) and some background crackle most evident on the run-ins and track divisions (but nothing I found particularly intrusive). The whole LP plays very, very well throughout with no distortion, no groove-wear, sounds wonderful and is very critically graded VERY GOOD+ for audio - not perfect by any means but still a very nice original 1965 copy and this is a rare LP - you won't be disappointed
SLEEVE: The original front laminated, thick card sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition - the front has a deep gloss to the laminate with very little rubbing and the untreated back is remarkably clean. The edges are crisp and sharp and all text on the spine is clear and bold - very, very fine example indeed
