Description

I apologise most sincerely for having to relist my record, especially to those people who had already kindly made a bid. However I neglected to advise in my initial listing that a faint name, in what looks like pencil, has been inscribed three times on the label of side one.The names are small and can hardly be seen but they are there and I did not want a problem to arise after the auction. This is an original 1958  first pressing  UK  7" 45 rpm   extended play (EP)  record self titled " THE PHAROAHS ". It is on the DECCA label DFE 6522. The fully laminated  picture sleeve is in Near Excellent condition. However it has two small tears at the opening on the back. There are also two flipbacks on the rear. Visually, the vinyl, matrix numbers EFF-1639-1C and EFF-1640-1C, is a strong Excellent on side one with a few light marks. Side two is Very Good Plus with a few light marks Audio- Side 1  Silence  on run in. Track one NEAR MINT. Track two NEAR MINT. Side 2.  Track one has repeating clicks for about 20 seconds after which Excellent Plus. Track two is NEAR MINT. I have been collecting records for 30 years and some you only ever observe as  rarities in a book, never expecting to see them. I still find it hard to believe that I have actually obtained the ultimate in  Doo Wop,but I have, and now you have the chance to make it yours. Do not miss it ! You will probably never have such an opportunity again! THE PHAROAHS were formed in Germany in 1958 to entertain the troops. They were five young men from the States. Paul Brown from Portland ,Oregon, Manchester Brooks from Patterson,New Jersey, Reginald Smith from Detroit ,Michigan, John James from Baltimore, Maryland and Frank James from Wilmington,North Carolina. Never in their wildest dreams could they have envisaged the effect their record would have 50 years into the future. It was only ever pressed in the UK, such is its rarity. Good Luck and may the best man win! .
