ALBUM INFO: 

The Monkees first and seminal album, a real piece of 60's beat pop history. This particular album has so many great tracks, other than The Beatles from the same period could have possibly had so many hits on one LP. The first ever man made group purposely put together by the record company to halt The Beatles total dominance of the 60's teenage market.  Each member of the band went through a series of interviews and tests to see their suitability to be firstly entertaining and also creative. One of the tests was they were left in a room with only a chair and were asked to do something with it, not only were they picked just for their looks, but four young men that could be molded into superstars. On it's release in October 1966 in the US this album immediately went to number one in the Billboard Top 100, and stayed there until the following year. This was the first of four consecutive number ones in the US, later released in the UK eventually getting to number one. 

This is the earliest UK release on RCA records which has the misspelling label and back cover of 'Papa Gene's Blues' as 'Papa Jean's Blues'. Rare as this item is in this condition as it's 44 years old, as a general release this has the added rarity of the mis-spelt label and back sleeve. For any Monkees collector this would never need an upgrade as it's such a remarkably well preserved record and sleeve.

SLEEVE: 

(EX) The sleeve has a few laminate creases to the front and some creases to the back; there is also some minor wear to the back and opening of the sleeve. Overall this LP sleeve is in excellent condition for it's age with no writing, sticker marks, corner splits or tears.

EDGES/SPINE: 

All in excellent condition with no damage.

INNER SLEEVE: 

The inner sleeve is free from damage, with just a little discoloration due to age.

LABELS: 

Clean, no damage or writing. 

AUDIO GRADING: 

I play all LP's on my Pioneer PL 550-X. This album plays with no distortion or jumps and only a couple of faults; Side 1 has some light crackle and there is a pop between tracks 1 & 2. Side 2 also has some light crackle; these minor faults however do not spoil a truly fantastic listen!

PACKAGING: 

I use preformed and standard mailers with stiffeners. I always take the vinyl out in its inner sleeve and place on top of the cover. This is then placed into a soft protective sleeve and packaged with stiffeners for full protection.
