Description
Super rare August 1969 regional Northern Soul single by the Washington DC based group The Contemplations on the ‘Dontee Records' label. A-side label is signed by 4 of the then-current band members including the song's writer Matthew Allen (signed as Matt). Inscription reads "To Edie Regards!! The Contemplations" and was likely purchased and signed at one of their shows around the DC Metro area since this came from the estate of a local store owner.
The vinyl is in rough condition and has several large and audible solvent or heat damaged areas on both sides as well as an edge chip and several deep gouges and scuffing. Despite the significant issues, both sides play through without skipping though the disc is very noisy (think sandpaper). The b-side label has a torn area where a large piece of tape was removed (a portion of it remains over the left catalog numbered side).
We realize that this is highly collectible and rare disc is in less than desirable condition. The extremely low start price is indicative of it being a 'placeholder' in someone's collection—however, the band signed label potentially makes this a one-of-a-kind item.
