THE CLASH Debut LP. 1st press. Signed by Strummer,Simonon and Jones. CBS 82000

For auction here I have a very clean SIGNED copy of the Clash debut,classic album from 1977. Released in 1977 on CBS Records the catalogue number is CBS 82000 indicating a true 1977 first pressing. Matrix etchings read CBS-S-82000-A-5 (Side 1) and CBS-S-82000-B-4 (Side 2). I've tried to  show these as best I can in the pictures provided.
           This copy has been signed by the 3 on the cover, namely Joe Strummer, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. I'm not going to give a long winded made up story of how these were obtained at some gig " back in the day" because I don't know if they were. This came into my hands alongside some other signed records from a giant punk collection via the friend a person who sadly passed away.
           I already have a signed Clash album in my collection and therefore don't need two so have decided to let this one go for that sole reason.
           I have compared the signatures to my other copy (which is Give 'Em Enough Rope) and a friends collection of signed Clash 7"s (which were signed backstage in front of him at a gig in 1979) and these are true in comparison. Joe Strummer has signed this in biro on a fairly dark part of the sleeve so it isn't the boldest you'll come across and Mick Jones has signed this in felt tip (NOT a modern day sharpie!!!) also on a fairly dark part of the sleeve. Paul Simonon's signature is the clearest and boldest (also in biro), at the top part of the sleeve where it is mainly white.
           The sleeve in itself remains generally solid and is graded as being in very good condition with a small 1/2" tear in the bottom right hand corner.
           I have played he vinyl all the way through and it still plays fantastically. The odd non obtrusive mark (not scratch) so graded as being in an excellent - condition.
           There is an oddity with the label on side one as you can see on the picture. The ink is slightly offset though the label is placed dead centre in the middle of the record. Never seen one like this before.  If you have any further questions,then please feel free to ask, it's no hassle at all.

                                                                                                RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM MINT :The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed be Mint. EXCELLENT :The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD :The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. I may use a + or a - to emphasise a grading which may be inbetween a grade. I will never use a mint grading for a 2nd hand/used record for instance. Mint- will be the very highest grade.
