Upstate New York where according to the Chesterfield Kings every day is 1967 exclamation point. As part of the paisley underground of the 1980s which included bands like the fuzztones , the rain parade and the Long Ryders, the Chesterfield Kings brought back the Wah Wah and the fuzz box but most importantly the attitude of the seminal psychedelic bands of the 60s like the seeds and the shadows of knight! This is a great guitar rock record that would make Chuck Berry proud let alone Keith Richards. Songs like she’s got no time my canary is yellow and it’s all right harken back to the late 60s when bands would form based on neighborhood friendships and as a great way to find a girlfriend. These bands stayed out of the messy world of politics and enjoyed a relatively clean life including abstinence from alcohol to lay down a more visionary aesthetic that had to do with self improvement and making it to the world on time. This record is so close to MINT that the beautiful velvety gloss is to “(the night time is ) the right time to be with the one you love. “ . The last copy in near mint condition sold for over $100.
