Matrix : YEX 110-2 / YEX 111-2 Issue : RARE 1963 SMALL STEREO PRESS
This is a rare 1963 label variation press with a small stereo sleeve. The standard small stereo press will have Gramophone Co Ltd rim text and Sold In The UK on the label. These labels went through various states of variation and correction over a small period of time. Some have spelling errors, some have a few corrections but still have mistakes and some like this have been corrected but still exist with The Parlophone Co rim text and no Sold In The UK. These labels with their variations and mistakes would have most probably been printed in 1963 but were released in 1965 with the new style small stereo sleeve. The vinyl is complete with the original inner sleeve and Stereo, Garrod & Lofthouse 'Patents pending' flipback sleeve. The sleeve still has the ‘Gotta' text error.
The vinyl is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl still has the wonderful original deep gloss, there are a few light marks but the black is still rich and the grooves show only light signs of play. The label is bold and clean with a little spindle wear. The vinyl lies completely flat on the turntable and the sound is rich and vibrant. There is Excellent clarity and audio separation, just brief moments of noise, but this is faint and does not spoil the enjoyment of this album at any point.
The laminated flipback 'Patents Pending' Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The black is bold, the laminate has a stunning gloss and the picture is extremely clear. There is just a little ring wear and a couple of laminate creases. The unlaminated back is slightly discoloured with light marks but is still very bright. The flipbacks are sealed and complete and the text is sharp. The whole sleeve is still very solid and the spine is firm with clear text.
