THE BEATLES - The Beatles (The White Album)

Original UK Stereo 1st Press LP

Parlophone (7067/8)

Rare UK original stereo first pressing on the Apple label with the "Sold in the UK..." text. Housed in a laminated and numbered, top opening, gatefold sleeve. This one is number "0453655". This is the rarer true stereo sleeve with a small stereo at the top of the rear.

This is a very nice example with stunning playback. Has obviously only been rarely and carefully played on good stereo equipment.

The sleeve is in a strong excellent condition. There are no tears, no writing, no splits, no bends. There are about three laminate scratches back and front. There is also some very light corner and top opening wear.

A very nice example of the true top opening stereo sleeve with the small "stereo" printed at the top of the rear sleeve.

The record one labels are in near mint condition. No writing, no tears, just the very slightest touch of spindle wear and just a couple of ultra light spider marks on each side.

Record one has the "Sold in the UK..." text on both sides and omits "An EMI Recording".

Matrix, mothers and stampers:

YEX 709-1 (4 AL)

YEX 710-1 (4 MR)

The record two labels are in near mint condition. No writing, no tears, no spindle wear and just a couple of ultra light spider marks on each side.

Record two has the "Sold in the UK..." text on both sides but includes "An EMI Recording".

Matrix, mothers and stampers:

YEX 711-2 (1 TT)

YEX 712-1 (7 GAP)

Comes with the correct plain black inner sleeves in vg+ condition. These have die cuts on one side only, as they should be. There is some wear as expected but still acceptable.

The four prints are in mint condition, look to have hardly ever been handled and have certainly never been on a wall. These are the correct 1960's photos, it is hard to tell, but if you place them next to 1970's and 1980's prints you can just determine the difference in shade of white on the rear and weight of photographic paper used.

Comes with an original "Lipstick Kiss" poster and again this is a 1960's printed posted not from a later edition. It is in vg condition. It has never been on a wall but has been handled quite a lot. Some paper loss where the seams meet and on the edges of one or two of the seams. Also some general handling wear.

Record one is in excellent plus condition with its original full gloss sheen. In daylight it looks mint with nothing to report. When angled under two 50 watt halogen spotlights you can just about make out the odd ultra light paper scuff and the slightest wispy line. Many would grade as near mint.

Playback is as good as the visual grade would suggest, infact a near mint playback with nothing negative to report. A wonderful full bodied, dynamic and powerful stereo sound.

Record two is in excellent condition with some of its original full gloss sheen left. In daylight it looks near mint with just a couple of scuff marks. When angled under two 50 watt halogen spotlights you can just about make out the odd ultra light paper scuff and the slightest wispy line or two. There are just a couple of ultra small soft scuffs on either side.

Playback is as good as the visual grade would suggest. There was only some light background crackle during the introduction to Honey Pie and for a short part of Revolution 9. A wonderful full bodied, dynamic and powerful stereo sound.

Please note that we grade all records the same way, whether they're 40 years old or one year old.

Our grading is strict so as not to disappoint, we have been selling on ebay since 1998 and know how important this is. Grading of records is done with the record angled under two 50 watt halogen spot lights. Scans are of actual item up for auction. All records are packed securely and most importantly packed outside of the picture sleeve (in a plain inner sleeve) so as to avoid seam splits during shipping.

Near Mint
Almost mint. Very minor paper scuffs and very little else can appear on the vinyl. This will most likely have occurred during packaging, or removing the record from the inner sleeve but obviously it had been handled with extreme care. Any flaw should be very hard to see. The cover should look as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and/or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable, however the artwork should be as close to perfect as can be.

Excellent
An excellent condition for vinyl will allow minor scuffs (Scuffs lay on top of the grooves) which are visible but only slightly. The wear should be minimal. The play should be close to perfect as well. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear. Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show a little white, meaning slight wear. No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs.

VG++
As Excellent but with a larger number of scuffs, maybe a few hairlines (very light scratch that can't be felt) or a couple of marks on both sides. Sound quality should still be very close to that of an Excellent record with only minor crackle in quiet segments only, NO scratches that can be felt. Cover as Excellent but there may be a small seam split on the cover, or a very minimal amount of writing like a name written in small writing or a number. A VG++ record should be an acceptable record to live with if you aren't looking to pay the price of a Near Mint copy.
