MIX MONO PUBLISHER'S NAME SIDE 1 Gil Music Corp. BMI SIDE 2 Northern Music Ltd. ASCAP COMMENTS On 29th. January, 1964, the Beatles recorded German lyric versions of the "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" at EMI Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris, France. The recordings were made at the request of EMI's West German branch, Electrola.
The German lyric recordings, "Sie Liebt Dich" and "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand", were issued in Germany on Odeon O22 671 in mid. March 1964. On or about 21th. May 1964, Swan released a single pairing "Sie Liebt Dich (She Loves You)" with the same master recording "I'll Get You" that served as the B side to "She Loves You". The record lists the group as "DIE BEATLES" on its A side label.
All of copies of the single have white labels with "DON'T DROP OUT" and have "VIRTUE STUDIO" hand etched markings in their trail off areas. All but one of the variations have red print. None have production credits.
Swan used three different factories to press the initial issues of the single in 1963:
(A) Philadelphina plant, believed top be Mallard Manufacturing Company
(B) Monarch Records in Los Angeles, California
(C) RCA Custom in Rockaway, New Jersey
Type-1-A: Mallard Pressing:
has the German and English titles surrounded by quotation marks on one line.
Type-1-B: Monarch Pressing:
has the German title on one line in loose spaced letters with the English title in small uppercase letters below. Some Monarch pressings have orange print.
Type-1-C: RCA Rockaway Pressing:
has the German title in tall thin print with the English title in parenthese below.
Swan did not prepare a picture sleeve for "Sie Liebt Dich". The record is in really good condition other than the rewrite of the title in ink. Thought that the fantasy sleeve was pretty awesome so I added it along with a generic white sleeve.
