Offered for direct purchase is a UK mono LP of Please Please Me which has the very scarce 'extra 331/3' notation on each of the labels (to the immediate right of the 'XEX' numbers). When EMI changed label style from the gold/black to yellow 'PARLOPHONE', the '331/3' was included on the new base-label stock; however, the typesetter using the first batch(es) of the new labels retained the '331/3' from the gold label PPM typeblock. This meant that '331/3' appeared twice on the labels. The error was quickly identified and the redundant '331/3' was removed from the typeblock altogether.

How many of these 'extra 331/3' labels got to market is anyone's guess but collectors agree that they are very scarce indeed; and as to how many have survived the fifty years since original issue is unknown.

This is a chance to secure a decent example of a genuinely hard-to-find UK Beatles vinyl collectible.

BUY IT NOW or BEST OFFER
The 'Buy It Now' price is based on the closing price of a similar item that was listed a few days ago:

I have also included facility for submission of offers (see 'make offer' button at top of listing).

THE VINYL LP
The LP plays well and without sticks or jumps. However, being a record which has seen numerous plays in its nearly-fifty year life, low-level crackle can be heard during track 'silence' and occasionally throughout the quieter passages of music. This record is not for the audiophile but for those who wish to add a genuinely scarce label to their collections.

As is my habit, I have included scans of the each side of the LP win which the 'exposure' levels have been raised to afford a 'better than naked eye" appreciation of any surface blemishes i.e. scratches which would go unnoticed (or be hidden) in untweaked images are now revealed to prospective buyers. To the best of my knowledge, no other vinyl seller provides images that so sharply illustrates the actual condition of the vinyl surfaces.

NOTE : the vertical 'lines' or 'streaking' which can be seen on the scans of each 'side' of the LP is the result of the characteristics of my flatbed scanner (a cheap Mustek A3 scanner).

LABELS
The labels are in an excellent state. NO writing, NO tears, NO steam-bubbles, NO stickers or residue of removed stickers, NO marker pen 'colouring-in'. Spindle trails, although present, are minimal.

SLEEVE CONDITION
Sleeve quality is only 'good' in my opinion. The provided scans are less 'red' than the images look (a result of the bias of my scanner) and so the back sleeve is much whiter as a consequence. However, there is staining on the back and the corners are bumped to varying degree's. The spine is generally tight and without LP edge-piercing; that said, there are a few thin age cracks of the laminate. The seams in general are in good repair. Feathering of the opening is in evidence but is not too fluffy.
