The Beatles : Let It Be 3U / 4 Stereo Press 1976

This is not an early pressing as such but for the completists this is definitely one for the collection.  The reason - it plays with incredible 'as new' audio on both sides with no interference whatsoever.  All I noticed were a couple of mega faint ticks on S2 and it is clear that this vinyl has hardly been played.  I say this because the vinyl is visually stunning with no marking etc and the labels have only one tiny spindle trace each.  The sonic quality is out of this world and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE time-warp classic.  You could not wish to find a 'cleaner' more stunning vinyl - the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is sensational.

The G & L cover has been preserved beautifully and is so close to perfect and the original inner sleeve is also in superb condition.

This is known as a fourth pressing and was produced between 1976 and 1980 so is still of an advanced age and rarely found in this condition!

The vinyl is visually stunning and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only a very small number of very faint hairlines and the grooves are just so clean.  The is no groove wear and the surface gleams so much!  The Apple labels are close to perfect with just one small faint spindle trace on each.  This is one pristine vinyl!

Play grading  

The 'spoken' intro on 'Two Of Us' is perfect with not even a single dust tick and the acoustic section followed by the opening vocal are just as impressive.  Pristine Mint audio essentially.  It continues to play with a clarity and depth that is 'as new' and as per my earlier statement this track certainly sounds like it has hardly been played.  From start to finish there is no background and that applies to the fade out / whistle also.  This is Mint in every way.

'Dig A Pony' is of the same high end standard.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is sensational and once again Mint is 100% deserved.

'Across The Universe' plays beautifully throughout with no intrusion.  There is no need to elaborate this version is perfect and as always I have listened to the track in full.  The audio is crystal clear with not a single dust tick.  Mint

'I Me Mine' keeps up this fine standard and plays with exceptional sonic quality throughout with no interference.  Every note is as 'clean' as it would have been when first pressed and yep no other grade than Mint will do.

'Dig It' is Mint simple as.

The piano intro on the classic 'Let It Be' has no background and because the clarity is 'as new' you can even hear what sounds like a drumstick tap!  McCartney's opening vocal is of the same calibre and as Starr joins in there is no let up in quality.  The mid solo is 'as new' and the remainder plays with sublime clarity and depth.  There is no inner groove distortion, another sign the vinyl has hardly been played, and again Mint is fair.  

'Maggie Mae' ends the side with... stunning audio.  Mint and wow what a side of music!

The intro on 'I've Got A Feeling' has zero intrusion and from then on plays with tremendous depth and power and of course no interference.  A track with a number of high octane moments especially on the vocals and yet there is no distortion on the top end.  A flawless Mint version from the first note to the last.

'One After 909' plays with unrivalled quality i.e. there is no background so you could not find a stronger version.  With that superb 'live' sound it could not play any better.  Genuine power and depth here, the playback is STUNNING!  Mint

It may not be the version that McCartney wanted but you cannot fault the audio during the 'The Long And Winding Road' as it plays beautifully with only a couple of mega light ticks that really do not deserve a mention they are so quiet.  It was the Spector treatment that he objected to but it does add a certain something.  It plays with exceptional clarity and warmth throughout and is the first track to grade as Mint- but that may be a little harsh.

No issues with Harrison's 'For You Blue' which plays with 'as new' audio from start to finish.  Another track that with impeccable depth and resonance and great separation also where each note can so clearly be heard.  Mint

'Get Back' ends this classic album with STUNNING power and depth and... no interference as is expected.  The sonic quality is on another level and once again there is no inner groove distortion.  A perfect Mint conclusion.

In summary this vinyl could not play with any greater precision, as simple as that.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is 'as new' and that is no exaggeration.  It is obvious it has hardly been played and there are no clicks, pops or static and only a couple of mega quiet ticks on S2.  This is as good as it gets!  A FINAL UPGRADE pressing in every sense.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The laminated G & L cover is in superb condition with no obvious wear.  The edges and spine are perfect and the corners are also super clean - only the one bottom right has a minor crease and the opening edge has no handling wear which is no surprise.  The glossy front cover has only one tiny laminate crease and a handful of tiny specks near the bottom edge but that is being hyper critical!  The back cover is just as impressive with only some minor specks next to the opening edge around the 'thin' area that isn't laminated.  A stunning example.

The original EMI inner is practically 'as new' with only minimal creasing and no side splits or marking.

Play tested on my Rega P2 with Rega Carbon Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers
