Description

The Beatles - 'Let It Be'. Parlophone PCS 7096/PPCS 7096

The Beatles 1970 CONTRACT PARLOPHONE EXPORT? PRESSING of the 'Let It Be' LP. Released on the 6th November 1970, this is a seldom seen and rare label variation.

This particularly rare and unusual version is of great interest for a number of reasons. Firstly - and a great rarity in itself this issue is pressed on the PARLOPHONE label and not the Apple label as you would usually find. Secondly - each label also has a ridged center similar to those used by DECCA RECORDS so this appears to be a contract pressing of some kind. This is not an EMI press and I am aware that Decca did produce a few very rare silver and black Parlophone contract pressings of this album.

It has been suggested that this originates from a number of different countries including: South East Asia, Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, The Caribbean or even part of Africa. The ridged labels suggest a contract pressing by either Decca or CBS (it bears no hall marks of an EMI pressing that I have ever seen). I must add that I simply do not know it origins so please take a look at the images and the information below.

The labels are the Parlophone silver and black style with one 'EMI box' logo which was produced around 1969 to early 1970. Both sides have 'The Gramophone Co Ltd' rim print, UK catalog number PCS 7096 and UK matrix numbers. Both labels have an error stating the running speed at '33' which of course should be '33 1/3'. The sleeve is a fully laminated UK export sleeve with Parlophone logo to the rear and export catalogue number PPCS 7096. A very unusual pressing of this classic album.

The Matrix numbers are:

Side 1. YEX 773-3U 2

Side 2. YEX 774-2U (blank)

The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition on side one and GOOD+ condition on side two (one deep scratch through two tracks which may affect play). The vinyl has a slight warp.

The label on side one has not been aligned during production and is off center. The label on side two is near perfect. NO writing, NO stickers, NO rips....

The sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition.

The inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition. Seam split to bottom edge.
