Description

The Beatles 1967 'Made in Gt. Britain' LP 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' on Parlophone PMC 7027. What a mega landmark record which is constantly vying with 'Pet Sounds' for first place in the all time album charts.
Has all the identifiers for a first press:

  • 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.' and 'Sold in U.K...........' label texts
  • Garrard & Lofthouse Ltd. laminated gatefold sleeve
  • top visible flaps inside the carded sleeve
  • red and white 'flame' inner sleeve
  • original cut-out insert of heavier card than later issues
The mono sleeve is in great solid nick for its' age. No rips, writing or sticker tears. Shows some expected laminate creasing and a tad of corner wear. Say 8.5 out of 10 for condition.
9 /10 for the super clean card insert.
Invariably the flame inner sleeves give out on the bottom and seam split due to the weight of the disc on what is essentially a fold of a paper bag. But this one is ok! Yes, has some creasing and age browning but is one of the cleanest I've seen. Let's say 8.5 /10 purely in respect of its' age.
So, on to the vinyl itself which is at least of medium weight, flat and shiny. The black/yellow/silver labels look pretty good as shown with evidence of just a handful of plays as evidenced by the few spindle 'snail' tracks at the centre holes.
In room daylight the disc looks very nice. When angled for inspection under the all-knowing and unforgiving desk lamp I see scuffs and hairlines and as such I rate if 7 /10 for condition.
To avoid damaging the flame sleeve I'll put the vinyl in a separate inner sleeve for transport in the mail.  99p start and free UK postage and generous elsewhere.
