Description

Parlophone PCS 7027, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A 1967 UK first pressing in mono having all the requisite attributes for that year with the matrix / stampers XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1. Further, this is the rarer wide spine example of the sleeve.
Has the Mono G&L laminated gatefold sleeve with the visible inside flaps. Also the 'flame' inner bag / sleeve. The labels have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.' and 'Sold in the UK.......' texts.
The gatefold is in solid condition; there is edge wear plus rubbing at the corners as shown. Also slight ringwear and creases due to laminate shrinkage over the decades. These are all standard blemishes for its' age yet is a strong example as I've said. Condition wise I reckon 6.5 out of 10.
Both the insert and flame bag are in clean shape. These bags invariably have split bottoms due to 'knifing' by the disc and this one has a 2cm split right in the middle to which I've applied invisible tape. Also the bag shows some creasing and age browning which is purely cosmetic. I'll put the vinyl in a separate inner sleeve for transport.
And both labels are quite clean with signs of several plays. The record is flat and shiny and reads 154g on my scale so is a good medium weight. Angling the vinyl in room daylight it looks very nice. Under the searching and unforgiving desk lamp I see scuffs and hairlines so I'm going to say 6.5 /10 for the disc also to match the sleeve.
