Description
Using the pseudomnum "Northwest Melody Boys," Walt Anderson and his Golden Pheasant Hoodlums play a hot "Sugar Foot Strut" on Champion 15363. There are clarinet, trumpet, trombone and piano solos, and fine, prominent tuba.

On the other side, Johnny Ringer's Rosemont Orchestra, disguised as "Wally Spencer's Georgians," play a spirited "The Varsity Drag" with brief violin, tenor sax and trumpet solos.

The "Sugar" side is in V condition generally, with some scratches that sound pretty much throughout the side. The "Good News" side is in VV+ condition generally, except for a half-inch wide band of grooves that have apparent steeling. The steeled section affects the first half of the vocal and about 8 bars before it. Both sides are pressed slightly off center, but not enough to detract from the music. There are a couple of needle runs on the "Good News" label. Despite these flaws, the music is enjoyable, particularly on the Anderson side.
