Description

Extremely RARE Columbia Stereo (6-eye) recording from Johnny Williams (later to be known as John Williams, the filmmusic composer:  STAR WARS, JAWS, E. T., RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, SUPERMAN, etc.) and his orchestra.  Before he became legendary for his movie scoring, Williams did jazz recording and scored TV shows, and he also produced recordings for the great gospel singer Mahalia Jackson.  This album was produced in the heyday of the stereo recording mania, when all the record labels were experimenting with, and playing around with recording music, vocals and even sound effects in creative ways   Songs include:

  • Fascinatin' Rhythm
  • The Varsity Drag
  • The Surrey With the Fringe on Top
  • Let's Do It
  • Put On a Happy Face
  • Whatever Lola Wants
  • Johnny One Note
  • An Occasional Man
  • My Heart Belongs to Daddy
  • Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries
  • Sunny Disposish
  • Buckle Down Winsocki

The record is in almost perfect condition with no tics or surface noise (matrix #'s 1B/1B).  The jacket is almost as nice except for one small bit of paper loss in the upper right hand corner of the front cover where it looks like someone removed a price tag or something in the past, otherwise the cover is immaculate (the little trumpet at the top moves when you look at it) as is the back cover, the spine is clean and there is just a minor bit of wear on the top and bottom edges-no splitting.
