Sylvan Morris, "Dub Wise (Morris On Dub)" rare 1975 early Dub LP from the engineer responsible for some of Studio One's greatest output, although the production credits are given to label owner Harry Johnson, one can be sure his contribution was pretty minimal and this is a rare Dub outing from one of Jamaica's oft overlooked engineering heroes backed by some of the Island's top musicians: Carlton Davis, Earl Smith, Albert Chin, George Fullwood, Leslie Butler and Joe White.

Released back in 1975 on the Harry J subsiduary label Jaywax, (H.J.113/4), I believe that other than the first small Jamaican pressing this album has never been repressed or reissued and is quite a Dub rarity.

Visually side A is excellent+, barely a scuff, side B is excellent, but does have several extremely feint scuffs, there are no scratches and no damage, but this is a mid seventies Jamaican pressing and therefore has the usual quality issues associated with the period including lots of tiny pits, the record plays and tracks fine, but the pressing does mean that all the tracks have slight surface noise, I believe this is common to all copies.

Play Grading

1. Plays well with slight surface noise and just a touch of crackle.

The sleeve has slight wear to the edges/corners and some small crease, the rear has slight ring marks and the remains of a sticker on the top right.

The A side label is excellent, the B side is put on slightly off centre and has a tiny tear

Records play graded on a Michell Orbe deck fitted with a Techno Arm and a Van Den Hul MC2 cartridge..Records professionally cleaned on a VPI record cleaner.
