Sun Records: The Country Years (10 LP + BONUS)
COUNTRY MUSIC IN MEMPHIS--1950-1959
SUN/Bear Family Records
LC 5197/BFX 15211(11)VA 1986
Rarely available! Boxed set of 10 records and a bonus LP!
Digitally remasterd set contains 193 Performances including 82 previously unissued masters; a 128 page book by Colin Escott, Hank Davis & Martin Hawkins with biographies, discographies and many rare and unpublished photographs. There are several special tracks: including Elvis 9 off microphone singing "How Do You Think I Feel, with Scotty Moore and Johnny Bernero, as well as to never before released Carl Perkins masters: Forever Yours and Breakin' My Heart. Each record comes in a photograph sleeve, with liner notes on the back of the sleeve under each track. The record itself is its own paper sleeve as well.
These records do not appear as though they have ever been played! I have visually inspected all and they all are scratch free and have a wonderful luster. The only mark I could detect were the slightest type of scruff marks, less than a 1/2 on side one of volume one, side one of volume two and side two of record nine. I cannot account for why that is so, as the records appear unplayed, the book unopened, and the overall condition of the photographic sleeves, inner sleeves and the book appear untouched. These three marks are so slight that I doubt they would interfere with sound of the record, but I want to mention that to any interested bidder.
The back and front cover of the box are in near mint condition, however the bottom corners of the box have been worn from storage, and the right hand corner seam has begun to split at that corner. Otherwise this set is in phenomenal condition!
