Description
"Moving Out" by Sonny Rollins was released in 1956 by Prestige Records (7058). This is a first pressing mono copy, deep groove, with RVG in the dead wax and the 447 West 50th St address on the laminated cover and 446 W. 50th St on the labels. This is a promo copy based on the stamps on the labels and back cover (see photos). Kenny Dorham, Elmo Hope, Percy Heath and Art Blakey accompany Rollins on the 1st 4 tracks, while the final track is performed by Rollins, Thelonious Monk, Tommy Potter and Arthur Taylor. All tracks were recorded in 1954.
The vinyl is VG+ with various hairline marks. Side 1 plays more like EX with very light background noise audible only during the subdued "Silk N' Satin." Side 2 is a bit noisier but not to the point of being distracting (for me, anyway). The labels have faint spindle marks visibly only under a bright light, and the promo stamps mentioned above. The cover is VG with the stamp, rubbing, a small amount of foxing, a one-inch seam split and nearby wear at the top of the side edge, a small bump at the bottom right corner, wear at the corners and along the edges.
