COLLECTOR'S ALERT! Sonny Clark Trio "Sonny Clark Trio" 1960 Time Records T 70010. A great copy of a highly sought after record, also featuring Max Roach and George Duvivier. Sleeve is still shiny and new looking, only a tiny scuff on the front near "Trio" and light discoloration near the edges on the back, a merchant's date stamp is on the left (study photos). Spine and bottom edge also have some light damage, but overall, this is an Excellent minus (EX-) cover. Vinyl is playing back with near perfection, with a clarity and presence that makes us glad to be alive and listening to vinyl. BUT, this record has a weird defect. The labels on both sides have bizarre ghost images of the text. It looks as if the wax inner sleeve, sometime in the history of the object (right after production? in storage? I just can't say) picked up the ink and then redeposited it like a stamp (again, study the photos). If you look carefully, you can also see a light mark/deposit on one side of the vinyl, in the shape of a folded corner, probably from the wax sleeve. None of this is affecting playback, which I will say again is remarkably good. Because of the visual issues, I don't know how to rate the otherwise near-perfect vinyl, so I'll say Excellent minus (EX-) with an asterisk. Just cleaned with a VPI wet-vac system. I'll pay the shipping and insurance.
