Sonic's Rendezvous Band – "City Slang" 7" 45, Orchidé Records OR-1002, 1978 — Numbered #140/1000, SIGNED by Scott Morgan & Gary Rasmussen
Up for sale is a genuinely rare piece of Detroit rock history: the legendary self-released single by Sonic's Rendezvous Band, the Motor City supergroup featuring Fred "Sonic" Smith (MC5), Scott Morgan (The Rationals), Gary Rasmussen (The Up), and Scott Asheton "Rock Action" (The Stooges). "City Slang" is widely regarded as one of the greatest American rock 'n' roll singles ever recorded — a true holy-grail item for Detroit punk, garage rock, and proto-punk collectors.
Released November 1978 on the band's own Orchidé Records, this "special preview edition" was limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies. This copy is #140, stamped/written on the sleeve.
The sleeve is signed in blue ink by Scott Morgan (dated 5-25-94) and Gary Rasmussen, placed directly beside their printed names on the back cover — a striking, clearly authentic autograph pairing from two founding members of the band.
Condition: Vinyl VG+ or better, sleeve VG+ or better. Pink swirl Orchidé label, stereo pressing, plays clean with strong, glossy vinyl. Sleeve shows only light handling wear consistent with age and careful storage — see photos for exact condition, which are part of the listing description.
