Description
The Smiths - How Soon Is Now/Please Please Please
Rough Trade RT 166 (EEC 7", 1984, lilac sleeve)
Up for sale here is the very rare EEC version of The Smiths' How Soon Is Now? 7" single, which uniquely used the picture from the UK William release but in a lovely lilac tint. There are two versions of this: one is on the grey Megadisc label for distribution within the Benelux countries; the other one is the one shown here, which is styled like a UK Rough Trade label but in lilac and with Made in EEC printed at the bottom. Both records were probably pressed in Holland, but the sleeves for both releases were identical. Rather than the card sleeves used in the UK, these were printed on very thin paper and so were very easily damaged. However, this sleeve is in remarkably good condition, except for one thing - this used to have a Scott Piering promo sticker on the back, which someone has foolishly tried to remove. It hasn't ripped the sleeve at all, but the remnants of the sticker are still there - I haven't tried to remove it, I thought I'd leave that to the next owner! This explains the low starting price - however, this is still a very strong copy of this mega rare single, and the vinyl is in top condition. Happy bidding!
CONDITION:
Vinyl: Both sides are in Near Mint condition - looks beautiful, sounds fantastic
Labels: Near Mint - very clean
Sleeve: Remains of sticker on back as described above; slight ringwear and creasing, mostly on the back, but nothing too serious; NO rips, tears, split seams, writing, etc
PAYMENT & POSTAGE:
Paypal only, sorry. Bidders welcome from anywhere in the world, but I won't be able to quote you a postage price until after the auction has finished. However, I do promise to keep postage costs as low as possible. Ta.
