SOUND SAMPLE AUTO STARTED WHEN YOU OPENED THE PAGE,TURN UP THE VOLUME... and have a READ . 

Sample is of  about 7 minutes 48 seconds, 3 mins 52 seconds of  side 1 (Pathetique) with a 20 second gap so I can flip the disc. Side 2 (Les Adieux part 2) starts at 4 mins 12 seconds and plays the remainder of the sample.

NO VISIBLE MARKS ON THE RECORD, I had trouble finding even paperscuffs in sunlight, I seriously suspect it's only ever been played once or twice. There wasn't any dust or fingerprints when I first inspected it, but I washed it anyway before test playing and sound sampling. Nothing able to show in close up photo's, As you can hear,  very clean, the rest plays no worse than this.

This sound sample at a low resolution (192kbps) and full tone especially on computer speakers will not show, this is only to give an idea of how clean this record is, and even then there are some static crackles that you can hear due to the treble bias of the sample, that DO NOT sound on MY sound system.

This is a Near Mint Australian cover, and an Australian pressed  decca wide band label (curiously OZ issues still had "original Recording" at 10 o'clock.) If you can find a cleaner looking and sounding UK press for this price, I suggest you go grab it quick!! I am confident, as there never was one...............).

Official stock number SXLA 7508, and to save you scurrying to your classical record guides , these recordings were issued by decca UK on two seperate WB label 10" stereo SWL 8016 and one side of SWL 8018 Also in the official 10 LP box set SXLA 6452-61 coincidental as this also has an SXLA stock code but only to denote it as an Australian pressing.

I suspect mastered on an australian only stamper as the wax codes are hand etched and not with the normal ZAL coded SXL series. You can see them in the supersize photo's but they are

Summary rating DISC NM-, cover NM- Odd rating I know,  but its just a couple of creases in cover  that keep this from NM

Plays very cleanly, only the faintest of vinyl noise in this with normal RARE occasional tics,  but not distracting. There is no loud music to mask any vinyl damage noise.
so here's a good way to get the music on a record that  besides some random soft static like pops in quiet passages , has only a very few very faint paper scuffs in bright light . Both sides OCCASIONAL pops and tics especially in quiet passages nothing repetetive more than 2 quiet pips anywhere. the sound sample is representative of the cleanliness of the whole LP.

Rarely ever seen in Australia (THIS IS THE ONLY   SXLA  7508 I HAVE  EVER SEEN, out of tens of thousands OF RECORDS INSPECTED!!!!!

Except for the VERY FEW QUIET PIPS as mentioned Backhaus has a brilliance on the  Piano, this is a dynamically and musically outstanding recording. The full recording has to be heard, so if you haven't already heard it , vote now........

TRACK LIST

NO Rotational spindle marks, indicating it has been played rarely , 

Original Australian plastic only sleeve is not damaged, just a few creases.

LP COVER             (see photo's) rated 'Near Mint Minus'.

Cover shows very minor ring embossing of top and bottom front laminate in angled reflective light only, all is visible in photo's. NO SEAM SPLITS,
