Description

Up for sale in this auction is a ultra rare Sun Ra LP generally considered being titled, "Omniverse" for the track of the same name on the B-Side of this LP! This was pressed in 1979 by El Saturn which was a label Alton Abraham started in 1957 that eventually Sun Ra became a part of. Considered a privately pressed record because of Sun Ra's involvement with the label as well as the grassroots, do-it-yourself nature of this release (plain center labels and jackets). This particular copy is one of the rare pressings that has plain center labels that were then written on to label the record. Apparently these were sold off his bandstand after shows! Wild! The vinyl is in VG to VG+ shape with only some light noise and light popping present here and there. Sounds fantastic and plays all the way through with no large pops, skips or endless loops present. Great copy all around! Rated at VG just to be conservative. This copy sounds great with lots of life left! Jacket has some light wear and a small little circle with a line descending from it on the upper left corner of the front of the jacket. We assume this was put there to denote it as the Sun Ra record it is. Some light wear around the edges and a light stub on the bottom left of the front of the jacket. Extremely rare and hard to find a copy, let alone a very rare copy with hand written labels like this one that sounds this fantastic!

Goldmine Grading System:

  • SS  Still Sealed
  • M  Mint - Perfect in all ways.
  • M- Mint Minus - Near perfect, most likely and unplayed record
  • NM- Near Mint Minus - Extremely well cared for record. Probably a record that's been around for some years but extremely well looked after, but still not quite new enough to call Mint.
  • VG++ Very Good Plus - As close to NM as it comes.
  • VG+  Very Good Plus - Very close to like new with only superficial signs of use that do not affect playability. Only records stored and used with care will grade out to VG+.
  • VG Very Good - A used, reasonable copy that plays. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of some light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still nice and playable.
  • VG- Very Good Minus - A record with significant wear and marks. Records graded VG-usually have some noticeable surface noise.
  • G+ Good Plus. 'Good' means pretty beat up. From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about extremely beat up records.
