STRIGOI, the playground of PARADISE LOST's Gregor Mackintosh, where he can really let it rip again, releases his 2nd sign of life ''Viscera''. While the first STRIGOI album ''Abandon All Faith'' was still characterised by desolate Death Metal and aggressive Crust Punk, the successor ''Viscera'' is even darker and blacker, more hopeless and resigned. Here and there there are a few faster parts that remind us of the times when it was completely irrelevant whether you liked punk, grindcore, death or black metal, because everyone was equally pissed off. STRIGOI currently lives on scary moments, subtle sounds of industrial and even black metal elements. With the 2nd full lenght studioalbum ''Viscera'' STRIGOI descend further into the circles of hell. Mourning turned into omnipresent horror and incessant terror combined with a fascination for the dark, the unpredictable, the hidden. It seems as if Greg Mackintosh has found someone in Chris Casket/VALLENFYRE with whom he can write another great album. He did it before, back then the counterpart was called Chris Holmes, the importance of the first PARADISE LOST albums should be well known. You should listen to ''Viscera'' now and maybe again in a few years, when Macintosh has written history again. The first pressing on black vinyl here is limited to 700 copies and comes with an 8-page booklet packed in a glossy gatefold cover.
