Description
Up for auction is a copy of the Stone Temple Pilots album "Purple" released on Atlantic Records (82607-1) in 1994. This is a guaranteed authentic first pressing, not a reissue. Pressing on limited edition purple vinyl. Includes original insert with lyric sheet.
Cover is in nice shape, graphics clean and bright. No ring wear to speak of. Lower right mild corner ding. Upper right corner crease that's hard to see under most lighting. Back cover looks fine, upper middle has some hard to see scratches, though nothing serious. Couple small rubbing spots along spine. Overall, though, it's a really nice 20 year old cover, well-preserved that presents nicely. I'd grade it Excellent Plus (EX+).
The vinyl appears to be in really nice shape, no obvious scratches, scuffs, or large marks. Maybe a few faint and superficial hairlines from taking the record in and out of the paper inner sleeve, but they do not affect play back in any way. Surfaces still retain their original glossy luster. Clearly, this has been a very well-cared for record, not man-handled. I have play tested this record and overall, it sounds excellent, clean and clear. Opening run in groove has some audible surface noise that clears up once the music starts.
Keep in mind that colored vinyl pressings are not audiophile pressings. They will often have mild surface noise because of the nature of the lesser quality vinyl they use. In 30 years of collecting, I have yet to see an audiophile quality red, green, blue, or yellow pressing. This record is pretty much like that. Nonetheless, I'd grade the vinyl EX+ (Excellent Plus). This is a very collectable copy, don't be mistaken. Many copies have sold for over twice what I'm asking for this copy. Great deal!
