The auctioned item it's one of the rarest progressive album in the world at moment and one of the rarest lps in our catalogue.
graded VG+/VG++ for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: the original rough pink island label printed in the 1968 with ILPS 9079 as catalogue number and with and orange and black ball on the left side of label it's in great conditions without any writings or wear, there's not any spindle wear around the center hole.
cover: the cover it's fliback and matt with a black background and due of his nature it's very prone to the wear. This one it's very well conserved but altough not totally perfect and there is a start of ring on the upper and bottom sides plus a minor general wear and some writings on the back cover. I think these are quite common in this type of cover.
vinyl: the vinyl it's in great shape with his brilliancy totally intact but the are a couple of very small marks that causing some very very lights repetitive clicks in a couple of spots of side one but these have a very minor impact on the music also for the music nature but I have to mention this to be accurate and honest in my description. The sound reprodution it's not totally silent and this is due to the nature of music too because the sound it's not full but fractioned with many changing of rythm and silent parts so you can hear some very very minor background noises sometimes and here and there.
review: The Island label and the Pink Island label in particular, it's one of the most collectables labels for a records collector. This is because the high quality level of the catalogue and for the various range of musical styles that are included and the british jazz too. This is the rarest record of the catalogue maybe rarer than Harold Mc Nair/Affectionate Fink for sure of Nick Drake Five Leaves Left or Art Supernatural Fairy Tales and I'm sure that just few of you does have the pleasure to have this lp . Musically this is not a so commercial music because it's free jazz but there are many collectors that need this also for his musical quality but, I'm sure, many more for his collecting appeal. Personally I appreciate especially the Sax Soprano of Evan Parker and the Trumpet of Kenny Wheeler. I think sincerelly this is a must have album. This is a correct auction very different the many "pushed up" auctions I see all around! Please bid with confidence!
