It's one thing to be an arresting and in-your-face performer, however it is an entirely different thing when you find one whose tunes are laid back, steeped in understatement and brimming viscera.  Enter Slim Harpo.  Here he sounds so utterly self-assured that there is barely any need to sing or play at all.  It seems as though there is just enough in him to get the song out but if he could have told you the same thing with some small talk and a hand shake on the front porch, well that would have been alright too.  The title track is the title with good reason.  "Rainin' in My Heart" was Harpo's "big" single and I don't think it got him near the respect he deserves.  It's a beautiful tune and I'm sure you can guess what it's about.  It seems too that he had some sort of sordid obsession with bee's ("Buzz Me Baby" and "I'm a King Bee").  I've never thought of a bee sting as a sexual innuendo but then again, I never had to 'cause Slim's got if covered for me.  "I'm a king bee, buzz all night long...mmm buzz a while," the second phrase added as if the thought had just occurred to him.  When I hear him I think "yea maybe I'll buzz a little while too"  His delivery is impeccable.  And again on "Blues Hangover" his charm is in full force.  It seems as though he comes to after blacking out at the bar all night long right before it's time to pay the bill...."I know I didn' drink all this by my self...I mussuv had a blooze hangova"  I wonder if Captain Beefheart ever listened to him, I bet he did.  What a voice!  A true master.

Finding a still sealed original copy of this Blues milestone?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its FAKE ("electronically rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 20:1.

(d)          True stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP   (A TINY PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the spine and the bottom seam (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine   (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         The cover has a small scratch mark / abrasion near the spine (VISIBLE ON FRONT SIDE ONLY)  (less than 1/8 square inch in size)

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn (nothing significant)

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2   (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY) .
